“I hate my family. When will this end?”

These were my words as a child. Here’s what they taught me about silence, reparenting, and finding my voice.

Dear MindFull Readers,

Two weekends ago, I spoke at SG60: Voices from the Heart Volume 4.

It was only 10 minutes, but in those 10 minutes, I revisited my childhood dinner table in the Netherlands, the silence I carried, and the desperate diary entries of a girl who once wrote:

“I hate my family. When will this end?”

The room fell quiet. And afterwards, people came to me with one simple reaction: “That was powerful.”

It reminded me of something I hold close: when we share from the heart, we don’t give people a finished story. We give them a mirror.

That’s the power of reparenting, too. It’s not about having the perfect script. It’s about pausing, noticing, and asking ourselves: What did I most need as a child? And how can I give that to myself now?

I’ll leave you with that question today: What would change if you gave yourself what you most needed as a child? 🩵

With warmth and mindfulness,
